As the project manager, you will lead the end-to-end development of a high-thrust rocket engine, coordinating cross-functional teams and resources to achieve project goals. You will ensure that the project progresses on schedule, meets budgetary requirements, and adheres to technical and safety standards. Your role will be pivotal in guiding the team through design, testing, and validation phases.

Responsibilities

Tasks and missions

Project planning and scheduling: Establish timelines and milestones, monitor progress, and adjust schedules as needed to meet project targets.

Budget and resource management: manage the project budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support engineering, testing, and production needs. Coordinate with finance and procurement to control costs and maintain budgetary constraints.

Risk assessment and mitigation: identify project risks related to technical, schedule, and budgetary factors. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to prevent delays and ensure smooth project execution.

Team coordination and leadership: lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians, providing clear direction and fostering collaboration. Ensure effective communication and alignment across design, testing, and production phases.

Quality and compliance assurance: ensure that all project activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies. Work closely with quality and safety teams to uphold rigorous standards throughout development.

Preferred experience and skills

Engineering or project management degree with experience in aerospace or high-performance engineering projects.

Technical skills:

- Experience in managing complex, high-stakes projects, preferably within aerospace, defense, or propulsion systems.

- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)

- Understanding of propulsion systems, high-thrust engine technology, and requirements for test and development.

- Ability to manage risk effectively, with a strong knowledge of risk assessment tools and mitigation strategies.

- Familiarity with quality and safety standards for aerospace engineering.

Behavioral skills:

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with an ability to inspire and guide teams through challenging phases.

- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, ensuring all project elements are aligned and progressing.

- Clear and concise communication, capable of conveying complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Adaptability and resilience, with a proactive approach to overcoming obstacles and ensuring project success.
