Electrical Engineer (m/f/d)

Job Description

Posted on:
November 7, 2024

As an electrical engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain the electrical systems for high-thrust rocket engine test benches. You will be responsible for developing and managing sensor systems, automated ignition and shutdown sequences, and real-time control protocols. Your expertise will help ensure that the test procedures meet strict safety, accuracy, and reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

Tasks and missions

Test bench electrical design: develop and implement the electrical infrastructure for test benches, including power distribution, cabling, and circuit protection systems. Ensure the design aligns with performance and safety standards.

Sensor integration: select and integrate various sensors (temperature, pressure, strain, flow, etc.) into the test bench to monitor and control engine performance. Calibrate sensors to ensure accurate data collection under extreme conditions.

Automation of ignition and shutdown procedures: design and program automated ignition, shutdown, and control sequences to manage the engine test process safely and efficiently. Ensure that automated procedures meet all safety requirements and minimize human intervention.

Data acquisition and real-time monitoring: set up and manage data acquisition systems to capture critical performance metrics in real-time. Ensure the system accurately monitors and logs all relevant parameters for post-test analysis.

Fault detection and troubleshooting: develop fault-detection protocols to identify and respond to potential electrical issues during testing. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in test benches and sensor networks quickly and effectively.

Documentation and compliance: create detailed documentation for test procedures, wiring diagrams, and system configurations. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all test protocols and electrical designs.

Preferred experience and skills

Education : engineering degree in electrical engineering, automation, instrumentation, or a related field.

Technical skills:

- Experience in electrical design for test benches or high-performance machinery, preferably in aerospace or propulsion systems.

- Proficiency with data acquisition and automation software for test control and data logging.

- Knowledge of sensor technologies, including calibration and integration of pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.

- Familiarity with PLCs, microcontrollers, and other control hardware, as well as programming for automated sequences.

- Understanding of safety standards and best practices for high-power, high-stakes electrical environments.

Behavioral skills:

- Attention to detail and a systematic approach to managing and controlling complex test systems.

- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under time constraints.

- Excellent collaboration skills, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support overall test objectives.

- Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to minimizing risks in high-stakes testing environments.
